How to Pair Your Bluetooth® Phone With the Hands-Free System in Your Mercedes-Benz

This video walks you through the process of pairing your Bluetooth® phone with the Mercedes-Benz Hands-Free system. There are are so many mobile phone variations, but most can be paired using the in-dash command systems pairing process.

This first set of instructions pertains to set-ups that have to be initiated from the vehicle, rather than the phone:

Here’s the step-by-step process:

  • Ensure the phone has Bluetooth® turned on.
  • Ensure that the phone is “discoverable” or visible to Bluetooth®.
  • Turn on the Bluetooth® in your vehicle; press the “SYS” or choose “System” from the top menu.
  • Select “Settings” in the lower menu.
  • Select “Activate Blue tooth” to turn it on.
  • Now, press the “TEL” button, or choose “phone” from the top menu – this will display the main phone menu.
  • Select “Connect Dev”.
  • Select “Search for Phone from Vehicle”.
  • Select “Start Search-the system will then search for discoverable phones. (Note, this search might take up to 45 seconds).
  • When the list of devices appears, select your mobile phone.
  • COMAND® will show a six digit code and ask if the same code appears on your phone.
  • If the 6 digit codes on your phone and on the screen match, then select “Yes” on the car’s screen, and then “pair” or “confirm” on your phone.
  • If you phone asks you to allow access to its phone book select “yes” or “OK”
  • When you see “Authorization successful” on your car’s screen, now you’re all set up and ready to make hands-free calls.

For some phones, pairing has to be initiated from the phone, rather than the vehicle.

  • Select “Settings” in the lower menu.
  • Then select “Activate Blue tooth” to turn it on.
  • Press the “TEL” button, or choose “phone” from the top menu – this will display the main phone menu.
  • Select “Connect Dev”
  • Select “Connect Via phone”
  • When the COMAND® display shows that the system is ready for Bluetooth® connection, start a search for devices on your phone, then select “MB Bluetooth®” from the list of devices on your phone.
  • On the car screen, select “Yes” to authorize your phone.
  • COMAND® will show a six digit code and ask if the same code appears on your phone.
  • If the six digit code on your phone and the vehicle’s screen match, select “Yes” on the car’s screen, and then “pair” or “confirm” on your phone.
  • If you phone asks you to allow access to its phone book select “yes” or “OK”.
  • When you see “Authorization successful” on your car’s screen, you’re all set and ready to make hands-free calls.

Now that you are all set up, your vehicle should recognize your mobile phone every time you enter, and you’ll enjoy safe hands-free calling!
